1968 1/2 Mustang (R-Code Cobra Jet)- Note: Engine compartment currently being detailed.
One of 2,822 428 cid Cobra Jets made in 1968, this stunning restored Wimbledon White example with red interior has had only two owners. The 428 Cobra Jet was introduced in mid-year 1968 with larger valves and the race-brewed 427 intake manifold. This GT Fastback with the then new Cobra Jet power plant, functional hood scoop and ram air induction was built at the Dearborn plant on May 20, 1968 (the 68 Cobra Jet cars became known as 68 ½ Mustangs).
This car comes with the Marti Report which documents that it was ordered with the following: GT Equipment Group, C-6 Select Shift R-Servo Automatic Transmission, High Ratio Axle, Traction-Lok Differential, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering and AM Radio. The data plate decodes as follows:
