One of 1,280 Chrysler 300s produced in 1961, this car was sold new on January 25, 1961 by R D McKay Motors in Wichita, KS and was purchased from the original owner this year (check out the picture of the 1961 Kansas title). Chrysler 300 Club International, Inc. reports that only 461 of these cars are accounted for (105 convertibles & 356 hardtops). This hardtop 300 G is a factory custom paint car (code 999); I’ve been unable to determine how many 999s were built or how many 999s survive.
While this car has not undergone a complete restoration, it has been mechanically refurbished and painted the original custom color of Pinehearst Green. The original paint was old (no duh!) and the car had the normal amount of door dings, etc. The interior is original and in really good condition, the glass and rubber are excellent and it’s setting on four new Diamond Back tires. The hubcaps are original (they were stored separate from the car for who knows how long). Features include:
413 Wedge, Cross Ram Duel Four Engine;
Push Button Automatic Transmission;
Factory Console Tachometer;
Golden Tone Radio & Rear Speakers;
Rear Window Defrost;
Original Goodyear Blue Streak Spare Tire (that’s never been on ground).
All mechanics work flawlessly on this 1961 300; it looks, runs and drives like a dream. The original 1961 Kansas title, original window sticker and original build sheet (under the console) document the authenticity of this fine investment grade vehicle.
Feel free to call or email to ask questions, get more info or to see the car in person.
