This nostalgic wagon is a rare survivor in original stock configuration. It’s in great condition, visually and mechanically; the exterior (paint, including simulated wood trim) was restored at some point in its life, while the original chrome and stainless as well as the red and white interior are in almost unbelievable condition. The car’s VIN (M6FY167019) is stamped on the passenger side frame rail and, along with additional information, on the VIN plate located on the driver’s door post. The VIN plate confirms the following aspects of the car’s correctness:
Engine – Thunderbird 4BBL, dual exhaust V8 (1st VIN digit of M)
Model – Country Squire (4th VIN digit of Y)
Color – Black (A code)
Body – 8 passenger wagon (79C code)
Trim – Red/White interior (AT code)
This Squire is powered by the correct Thunderbird V8, with the correct 4 barrel Holley and T-Bird cast aluminum valve covers & fender emblems (the engine is assumed to be original, however, VINs were not stamped on Ford engine blocks in 1956). It sports the following factory equipment:
Power Steering, Brakes, Windows & Front Seat
Third Fold Down Seat (8 passenger)
AM Town & Country Radio
Spot Lights on Both Sides
Windshield & Door Sun Visors
Fender Skirts
Front Bumper Guard with Flag Stands
Just as impressive is the fact that everything works. The glove box even houses the original, but a little soiled, 1956 Ford Owners Manual (with break in instructions underlined by the original owner).
This rare investment grade vehicle has had the same owner since 1984 and is some kind of eye catching ride that runs and drives great.
